Croatia’s Truffle Fair
Truffle fans listen up: the annual Truffle Fair in Livade, Croatia, takes place every Saturday and Sunday in the Mirna River valley near the Morovun forest from the end of September ’til the beginning of November.
Sponsored by Zigante Truffles, it features not only both black and white Istrian truffles but also other local products and wines. Each of the seven weekends, visitors can search for truffles with local experts and their trained dogs, take part in an auction of the largest truffle found and taste truffle dishes prepared by local chefs.
Nearby, the Tuberfest (held in the town of Oprtalj) is another chance to check out Croatian truffles. This year’s dates are October 21 and 22, 2017. It’s organized by the Municipality and the Tourist Office of Portole.
