A Celebration of Indiana Sweet Corn
It’s this weekend, Road Trips Foodies. The Sweet Corn Festival takes place tomorrow through Sunday (August 3 through 5, 2017) in Wirth Park on State Road 64 in Oakland City, Indiana.
The annual fest in the Gibson County hamlet includes all the usual suspects: a talent show, parade, live music, pageant, and a car show in addition to just-cooked Hoosier sweet corn and other local specialties including pork chop dinners and fried chicken. It’s sponsored by the Oakland City Lions Club.
And, of course, there’s a corn-eating contest at 8 p.m. Saturday (August 5, 2017).
If you’re wandering southern Indiana and want to make it a two-foodie-fest weekend, swing on by the Knox County Watermelon Festival, set for Friday and Saturday in Patrick Henry Square near the George Rogers Clark National Historic Park in Vincennes.
