Celebrate Tomatoes in Reynoldsburg, Ohio
A spaghetti eating contest is one of the highlights of the Tomato Festival in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. It’s set for August 18 and 19, 2017, in Huber Park, 1520 Davidson Drive (just south of East Main Street).
Hours are 4 to 10 p.m. that Friday and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday — and the spaghetti eating contest takes place at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Alas — the Tomato Contest is open only to Ohio residents, Road Trips Foodies, but you can see the winning entries in such categories as “largest tomato” and “best tomato-based dessert” (really).
All the fun of a home-town event is on order, including “reigning royalty”, all sorts of munchies, arts and crafts exhibits, live musical entertainment, children’s activities, and “the opportunity to meet the friendly people of Reynoldsburg”.
The event, started in 1965, celebrates Reynoldsburg as the “birthplace of the commercial tomato”.
