Suppers in Honor of Robbie Burns

Submitted by on January 23, 2017 – 8:04 amNo Comment

Haggis, Scotland, Robert BurnsChef-Owner Daniel Orr (Chef D) of FARMbloomington, 108 East Kirkwood Avenue, Bloomington, Indiana, celebrates the life and work of Scottish poet Robert Burns at 6:30 p.m. Thursday (January 26, 2017) with a Burns Supper (reservations are available online).

The traditions of the meal will be followed (and attendees are encourage to wear kilts and other traditional Scottish garb). Bagpipers will greet guests as they arrive. To begin the meal, Chef D will read the Selkirk Grace. When the haggis is served, it will be addressed with his Ode to a Haggis, as it was the poet’s favorite food. Featuring haggis, the menu includes all the expected dishes, including Scotch eggs, Cock-a-leekie, and Scotch whisky trifle.

Of course, Burns Suppers are held around the world this week. For suppers in Scotland, click here; for those in London, England, click here (unfortunately for Americans, most Burns suppers in the U.S. this year were held last Saturday). And, there’s always next year, Road Trips Foodies.
