Beignet Fest in (Where Else?) New Orleans
It’s only six hours long, Road Trips Foodies, but who could resist? A Beignet Fest takes place from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. Saturday (October 8, 2016) in Lafayette Square, 540 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Your Road Trips Foodie knows beignets as sweet dessert pastries, but they also can be savory — filled with seafood or cheese, for example.
The inaugural Beignet Fest will feature myriad restaurant vendors, local and regional musical entertainment and a Kid’s Village. Admission is free, but you’ll pay for beignets and beverages.
A panel of celebrity judges will select winners for best savory beignet, best sweet beignet and most innovative beignet.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Tres Doux Foundation, which focuses on the needs of children with developmental delays and disabilities.
