Rocktoberfest at Lookout Mountain’s Rock City
Every Saturday and Sunday in October, Rock City offers a German-themed festival titled Rocktoberfest. This is its 11th year at the attraction at 1400 Patten Road, Lookout Mountain, Georgia (yes, just south of Chattanooga, Tennessee).
from 8:30 am. to 5 p.m. on those weekend days, there’ll be German food, German bands and polka dancing. Look for Ik the Troll King, the fall fairy, German dancers, a mime, balloon artist and Rocky the elf, Rock City’s mascot.
Your Road Trips Foodie notes that there will be beer cheese soup, German chocolate cake, weinerschnitzel and bratwursts. Yum!
There’ll be guided heritage tours at 9 a.m., 12 p.m. or 3 p.m. those days to learn about Rock City’s founder Frieda Utermoehlen Carter and her love of German folklore and fairytales.
