One of Europe’s longest-running food extravaganzas, the Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival celebrates its 61st year this fall in Spanish Arch, Galway, Ireland.
Always held on the last weekend in September, the fest celebrates celebrates Galway’s annual oyster harvest (they’re in season from September to April). This year’s dates are September 24 through 27, 2015.
The Irish and World Oyster Opening or ‘shucking’ Championships are held during the Irish food festival, but there’s also entertainment, street parades, seafood trails, flowing champagne and of course, Irish stout. The full program is online.
