Taste of Chicago
There’s food for everybody’s taste at the annual Taste of Chicago, where you’ll find more than 200 menu items at over 50 restaurants serving from booths along Grant Park, cooled by the breezes from Lake Michigan.
This year’s dates are June 26 to July 5, 2009. Admission to the Taste is free; you buy tickets (12 for $8) to sample the goodies.
The Family Village offers activities, entertainment and amusement rides just for kids. Local musicians are featured at the Taste Stage (located at the south end of Taste) and international fare performs at the Buckingham Fountain, where you’ll also find a market selling wares from around the world.
Hours are 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., except for the last day, when the Taste closes at 6 p.m. — although you’ll find that most vendors are sold out before then. The center of Grant Park is at Jackson Boulevard and Columbus Drive along Lake Shore Drive in downtown Chicago.
