A Gastronomic Fiesta of Snails in Spain

Admittedly they’re an acquired taste, but many Road Trips Foodies are fond of snails.
One place to find a “gastronomic fiesta of snails” is Lleida, Spain. The town’s L’Aplec del Caragol (“The Snail Meet”) is organized by different groups and associations among the locals.
For three days (this year the dates are May 26, 27 and 28, 2017), thousands gather for music, fireworks, street entertainment and — of course — to consume snails . . . 12 tons of snails.
