Oyster Festival
Ready to slurp some? Oysters, that is? Get thee to the Oyster Festival, set for May 30 and 31, 2015, in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana.
A whole bunch of restaurants will be serving up the tasty bivalve, from Fried Oyster Slidera with Jicama and Apple Slaw to unadorned raw oysters.
Of course, there’ll be music and contests, including the perennial favorite, shucking.
Your Road Trips Foodie salutes the event’s mission statement: “The New Orleans Oyster Festival will educate the country about the benefits of the Louisiana Gulf Oyster, honor and celebrate the restauranteurs and oyster farmers who have solidified the New Orleans French Quarter’s position as the ‘Oyster Capital of America’, and help raise funds for ‘Coastal Restoration’.”
