November Pork
Pork is more than bacon, and there are few places where that’s more evident than in the Emilio Romagna region of Italy.
Every weekend of November a salami competition will take place in four different towns: the biggest Mariolone (in Sissa); the heaviest Prete (in Polesine Parmense); the longest Strolghino (in Zibello); the biggest Chocolate (in Roccabianca).
Along with PDO Culatello di Zibello Salami, the Strada del Culatello di Zibello route offers a table laden with typical flavors of Parma. On Saturdays, street markets and food stands offer natural biological products, fish, typical products of the big river, Italian cold meats, herb teas, spices and spirits.
There’s all kinds of entertainment (from folk music groups to preparation of typical specialities), not to mention a god bit of “salami throwing”.
