An Oreo Surprise in Mauckport
The residents of Mauckport, Indiana, were in for a little treat this week as Oreo delivered an itsy bitsy box with exactly one mini Oreo cookie to every single home in the tiny Hoosier town.
One of the nation’s smallest, the Ohio River town of Mauckport was named Indiana’s best-kept little secret as part of Oreo’s Small Town America campaign. Located 15 miles south of Harrison County, Indiana’s county seat of Corydon, Mauckport is home to just 81 residents and 36 total homes.
Beyond its diminutive size, Oreo selected Mauckport for this delicious little distinction because of is its unusual history, which is forever fixed with famed frontiersman Daniel Boone. He and his brother, Squire, were early explorers and spelunkers, having discovered miles and miles of an underground wonderland at Mauckport, where Squire Boone made his home. Today, those same caves, named Squire Boone Caverns, welcome tens of thousands of visitors to the small Midwestern settlement every year.
UPDATE:
Well, that didn’t go exactly as planned. Time for Plan B! Mini Oreo Backlash.
