World’s Most Imaginative Bartender
Remy Savage of France (pictured) is the winner of the World’s Most Imaginative Bartender competition sponsored by Bombay Sapphire.
Savage took home the accolade following the global final in London, which saw him compete against 14 of the most creative bartenders from around the world. Competitors were challenged to create a cocktail inspired by the competitions’ chosen location.
This year (the third year of the contest), England was selected as the host country for the competition, inviting the bartenders into the home of the Bombay Sapphire distillery, Laverstoke Mill in Hampshire. Following the preview visit to the distillery, the group then traveled to London.
The winning cocktail, ‘Paper Anniversary’, was inspired by Savage’s preview visit to Laverstoke Mill, the brand’s soon-to-open gin distillery. The recipe features homemade paper syrup, which provides a subtle scent of paper, linking back to the history of Laverstoke Mill.
Here’s the recipe (although sourcing the paper syrup might be a challenge):
Paper Anniversary
45ml – Bombay Sapphire
15ml – Homemade paper syrup
1 dash – Salt solution
Fortunately, the cocktail is available at Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses in Heathrow, Gatwick, Hong Kong, San Francisco, Washington, JFK, Newark and Johannesburg for 12 months.
