Maple Syrup Festival
It’s hard to believe, looking outside at all that snow and ice, but spring is just around the corner.
Here’s one of the first signs: it’s time for the 23rd annual Maple Syrup Festival at L.M. Sugarbush, 321 North Garrison Hollow Road, Salem, Indiana.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for two weekends: February 22 and 23, 2014, and March 1 and 2, 2014.
Activities include sugarbush tours every hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., self-guided tours of the sugarhouse with its operating evaporator, Native American and pioneer syrup-making demonstrations from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and a mini-museum of maple-related antiques.
Of course you can buy maple syrup, maple candy, maple cream and maple cotton candy but you can also indulge in maple-barbecued chicken or pancakes topped with berries, ice cream, whipped cream and maple syrup.
