Botillo Festival
Botillo is a type of cured meat popular in the El Bierzo region of Castile-León, Spain.
Each year, the town of Bembibre stages a Botillo Festival where visitors can sample various versions.
This year, it’s February 22, 2014. It began in 1973 during a procession that is held every seven years known as the Saint’s Outing. Each February (the precise date varies from year to year, as it’s set according to Easter) since then, it has been traditional for all the restaurants in the region to offer botillo on their menus for a week.
Visitors can enjoy an Exhibition and Tasting of El Bierzo Products, where, besides botillo, you will also find chestnuts, honey, cheese and wines from the region.
