If you’re heading off to ski in the Swiss or French Alps, consider timing your visit to include Neiges Etoilées, a gastronomy festival set for January 21 through 24, 2014, in Châtel, France.
There are cooking competitions for both amateurs and professionals, as well as all sorts of culinary lessons and demonstrations — not to mention tastings — from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
Highlight (see photo) is the outdoor “frosted” breakfast served on a bar made of snow.
