Pro/Am Wine Tasting Contest
Here’s your chance to show off your oenophile chops, Road Trips Foodies.
Head to Geja’s Café, 340 West Armitage Avenue, Chicago, Illinois (map) for the 40th annual Pro/Am Wine Tasting Contest. It’s set for 1 p.m. November 3, 2013.
The intense battle of the palates is reputed to be the oldest event of its kind in the country. You’ll have a chance to test your taste buds against experts and amateurs alike.
Eight unmarked carafes of wine are placed before the competitors and t5he tasting begins. Participants are challenged to identify the grape, country, region, sub-region, vintage and producer of each wine.
The Grand Award for the highest scorer in each category will be an engraved crystal wine decanter.
Needless to say, you must be 21 or older to participate; the entrance fee is $20.
