Oktoberfest in Rhode Island

The International Oktoberfest serves two purposes: an official send-off to summer and a salute to the arrival of autumn on the waterfront at Newport, Rhode Island.
It’s held from noon until 8 p.m. both October 12 and 13, 2013. Admission is $25 on Saturday, and $20 on Sunday. Featured are seasonal brews and savory German cuisine plus music.
One highlight is the Stein Hoisting Event, where Road Trips Foodies can vie with fellow beer lovers to see who can hold up a full liter stein the longest (the winner goes to Germany for next year’s Oktoberfest).
