The Big Taste
Road Trips Foodies know that not all the fun foodie events take place in big cities. Some of the most fun are in the smaller towns, where independent producers take their star turns.
One such event is The Big Taste, set for October 4 through 6, 2013, at Solihull, England (map) — a town of less than 100,000 people just south of Birmingham in the Midlands.
Solihull’s restaurants, pubs and bars are promising festival goers a flavor-filled weekend of food fun, with the main events taking place in Solihull´s Mell Square.
The Big Taste will feature open air kitchens from a number of eateries, each offering taster menus of £3, £4 and £5. Some stalls will also be licensed to sell alcoholic beverages. A market with food stalls will be offering products directly from suppliers.
Consider takig the Tour de Solihull challenge: the Smoothie Bike Company will be on hand to help festival goers mix up their own unique fruit drinks by pedal power. Pedallers will also be needed to power up the electric for the DJ to keep playing festival tunes.
Solihull has more than 60 food and drink businesses, and The Big Taste is their annual opportunity to work together to showcase what the town has to offer visitors; whether it’s wine tasting sessions, food sampling, cocktail making or competitive cook-offs.
