Chestnut Festival
Did you know, Road Trips Foodies, that chestnuts used to be a staple in the diets of the residents of Cévennes, Haut Languedoc and the foothills of the Pyrénées in the South of France?
They’re still the ‘star’ of a number of events which take place in the Languedoc-Roussillon region between late October and early November — such as the Saint Pons de Thomières Chestnut Festival, set for October 26 and 27, 2013, in the heart of the Haut Languedoc Natural Regional Park.
The fest is a celebration of fall as well as a gourmet event (think: local produce — especially grilled chestnuts).
