Western North Carolina Cheese Trail
Wine trails are so last year, Road Trips Foodies.
What’s new? Cheese trails, of course. One of the newest is the Western North Carolina Cheese Trail that wanders through the mountains in the far Appalachian reaches of the Tar Heel State.
The trail allows you to connect directly with cheesemakers, see where cheese is crafted, and buy straight from the producers. (You may have guessed from the photo that in North Carolina, cow’s milk isn’t the only source of cheese.)
A list of participating cheesemakers is available online, ranging from Blue Ridge Mountain Creamery to Yellow Branch Cheese and Pottery.
There’s a handy set of maps online; download and drive!
