Tamales, Tequila and Mariachis in Milwaukee
Road Trips Foodies seldom use “Milwaukee” and “Mexico” in the same sentence, but there’s one time each summer when the timing is perfect for the pairing.
The annual Mexican Fiesta brings the sound, culture, and taste of South of the Border to the Wisconsin city’s lakefront August 23 through 25, 2013. It all takes place on the Summerfest Grounds, Henry W. Maier Festival Park, 200 North Harbor Drive, Milwaukee, Wisconsin (map).
This year’s foodie feature: Pan de Feria, a traditional festival bread baked fresh every day by master baker Carlos Roldan. Look for more than 100 artisans from the states of México displaying their art work and merchandise from each individual state in the fiesta’s Cultural Village.
Proceeds from the fiesta benefit the Wisconsin Hispanic Scholarship Foundation.
