Los Alamos Beer Fiesta
Ever wondered how altitude affects the effects of alcohol? Here’s your chance, Road Trips Foodies. The Los Alamos Beer Co-op in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is brewing up one of the highest-elevation events in the country for beer lovers with a “Beer Fiesta”.
It’ll take place July 27, 2013, at Pajarito Ski Mountain — at an altitude above 9,000 feet.
From 2 to 7 p.m., beer lovers can try a number of handcrafted beers from several New Mexico microbreweries including: Marble Brewery, Second Street Brewery, La Cumbre Brewing Company, Turtle Mountain Brewing Company and Santa Fe Brewing Company.
Entry is $10 per person (cash only) and includes one beer. Beers will also be sold individually by vendors.
Local band DK and the Affordables will perform live rock n’ roll music from 3 to 7 p.m., and food will be available for purchase at Pajarito Mountain Cafe from noon to 4 p.m.
Pajarito Mountain’s summer ski lift is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lift tickets are reduced to $25 for “Beer Fiesta”. Free shuttle service is available every half hour between noon and 8 p.m. from Sullivan Field at Los Alamos High School, 1300 Diamond Drive, Los Alamos, New Mexico (map), to Pajarito Ski Mountain’s Ski Hill.
