Restaurant Week in Lexington, Kentucky
Bon appétit y’all! So say the organizers of Beyond Grits, the annual celebration of the food scene in Lexington, Kentucky (map).
Set for July 25 through August 3, 2013, this restaurant week offers the usual ($25 prix-fixe dinners) at locally-owned newcomers and old favorites in the city. There are white tablecloth restaurants, bistros offering Southern Comfort Food, sidewalk cafés and joints serving “pub grub & suds”.
The full listing is online, of course, and each is ranked from one to three horseshoes.
Here’s a key to the ratings, according to the Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau:
One horseshoe spots are kicked back and specialized (barbecue, pizza, seafood, etc). No big frills – great food – fairly inexpensive.
Two mean more variety and a good bet for an innovative menu that won’t break the bank.
Three lucky horseshoes are local sensations with uptown ambiance. But you won’t be out of place in boots and jeans. After all, this is horse country.
If you ask ’em, the Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau will send you a copy of the culinary guide to their favorite town.
