International Biscuit Festival
There are four categories for competition at the International Biscuit Festival, set for May 15 through 18, 2013, in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Each — Sweet Biscuits, Savory Biscuits, Special Biscuits and Student Biscuits — will have three finalists chosen from submitted recipes, and those bakers have been invited to bake “live” in front of not only the celebrity judges, but an audience of biscuit lovers. (The Special category is for those biscuits that are over the top and incredibly imaginative; the Student category features the next generation of bakers and is for entrants 18 and younger.)
A Grand Prize winner will be chosen from the winners of the four biscuit categories.
Road Trips Foodies can buy tickets for the various events online. Priciest single event is the Biscuit Brunch hosted by Blackberry Farm at 11 a.m. May 18, 2013; tickets are $85 each.
Core event is the Biscuit Boulevard: Some 20 of the region’s finest restaurants and bakers will offer samples of ther Signature Biscuits between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. May 18, 2013. Biscuit Boulevard runs along Market Street, just south of Market Square in downtown Knoxville (map).
