hicks_michaelHeads up, Road Trips Foodies who are motoring in southern Indiana: French Lick Resort, 8670 West State Road 56, French Lick, Indiana (map), has taken an interest in the farm to table movement.

Partnering with Living Roots Ecovillage and founding member, Michael Hicks (pictured), the resort will host a Farm to Table preview dinner at 6 p.m. June 14, 2013, in 1875: The Steakhouse. The cost per person is $65. Seating is limited and reservations are required (call Tom O’Connor, 812:788-0085).

The relationship with Living Roots will allow 1875 to source chemical-free, unprocessed food from local farmers and provide the chef an opportunity to be creative with ingredients available and “in season.”

The resort notes that Hicks will be working with other local growers to source products. Depending on the item and the amount needed to supply an entire restaurant, certain things may be provided by one farm while other items may come from multiple sources.

Following the preview event, there will be a Farm to Table Father’s Day Festival of Food at the resort, where several restaurants on the property will be serving specials sourced direct from the grower. Sinclair’s, 1875: The Steakhouse, Hagen’s Club House Restaurant, Power Plant Bar & Grill and Spring No. 8 will all serve items made with local cheeses, produce and proteins the weekend of June 14, 2013.
