Chicken Fried Steak Festival in Texas
What’s not to like about this festival, set for April 26, 27 and 28, 2013, in Lamesa, Texas (map): it’s the third annual Chicken Fried Steak Festival and Crossroads Balloon Rally.
It’s logical that the specialty food is celebrated here: in April 2011 the Texas legislature declared the west Texas town the “Legendary Home of the Chicken Fried Steak.” But balloons? Why, not!
The City of Lamesa celebrates this declaration each year on the last weekend of April, and 2013 is no different.
On April 26, there’ll be a handmade chicken-fried steak dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a roll. The chicken fried steak cook-off is April 27.
It all takes place in Forrest Park, 814 South Houston, Lamesa, Texas (map).
