April is Beer Month in North Carolina
Wandering through North Carolina this month, Road Trips Foodies? You’re in luck: April is Beer Month! Promised are enough “beer moments” to fill a memory bank.
Homegrown beer festivals survey the state’s craftsmanship and tap into local and regional scenes. Award-winning brewers create collaboration beers, a beer barbecue sauce and ale from a Revolutionary War hero’s handwritten recipe. Brewery events and beer tastings, food pairings and beer dinners, classes in cooking and beer-making, and dozens of other events inspire the moment for beer-loving travelers across North Carolina.
Where’s the beer? From the mountains to the sea, breweries and brew pubs welcome visitors for tours, tastings and dining on food truck creations and four-course meals — plus music, comedy and sometimes Shakespeare. Beyond the local brewery, bars and restaurants pour regional brews and know the menu’s best matches. And shoppers find stops with supplies for home brewers and beer souvenirs.
From Asheville to Winston-Salem, every region offers a special brew.
The North Carolina brew pub era started on the coast, took hold in the mountains and flourished across the Piedmont. With 75 breweries (and counting) between Kill Devil Hills and Bryson City, North Carolina has the most breweries of any state south of Pennsylvania and east of Texas. Check out these trip ideas.
