Hanover Tomato Festival
The 35th annual Hanover Tomato Festival takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 13, 2013, in Pole Green Park, Mechanicsville, Virginia (map) — it’s always the second Saturday in July. (The tomatoes are named for Hanover County, in which Mechanicsville is located.)
There’s no admission charge, and the fest is held rain or shine. Genuine Hanover Tomatoes will be available for purchase (as long as supplies last), and there’ll be a whole raft of food vendors.
The tomato contest features (of course) only Hanover Tomatoes.
Note: the tomatoes sold at the Hanover Tomato Festival are supplied by Dodd’s Acres Farm, located on Market Road in the Black Creek area of Hanover County (map). The Dodds have worked their 300-acre farm in Hanover County since the mid 1970’s.
