Table des Connaisseurs
The extravagant gourmet scene in St Moritz appeals to those with a refined palate and a taste for gastronomic escapades. Badrutt’s Palace Hotel has introducing Table des Connaisseurs, a new culinary series at Badrutt’s Palace Hotel in St. Moritz, Switzerland: chefs and sommeliers present an exclusive tasting menu, and guests get a rare insight into their world of indulgence.
Alas, Road Trips Foodies, we’ve already missed the first dinner (it was January 16, 2013), but there are three more to come: February 12, February 15 and 2013, and March 9, 2013.
Theme for February 12 is “Les Millésimes du Champagne Dom Perignon”. It’s hosted by Richard Geoffrey, head chef of Dom Perignon’s wine cellars, and Mauro Taufer, Badrutt’s Palace Hotel’s Executive Chef. Champagne aficionados will learn what makes Dom Perignon’s Millésime so special and unique, thanks to a sparkling tasting with Geoffrey. Also included is a five-course tasting menu, with a Le Gosset champagne apéritif. Tickets are $740 US (CHF 680) per person, including apéritif, five-course menu, beverages and coffee.
On February 15, 2013, gourmets are led from champagne to the treasures of Domaine Romanée Conti by wine expert Jan Martel; the evening’s feature being “Les Trouvailles de Romanée Conti.” Badrutt’s Palace’s Executive Chef Mauro Taufer (pictured, above left) will create a five-course tasting menu, skilfully enhancing the Grand Cru wines and promising an unforgettable evening. Tickets are $1,580 US (CHF 1,450) per person, including apéritif, five-course menu, beverages and coffee.
Rounding off the first season of Table des Connaisseurs is “Vino tavola di Angelo Gaja” on March 9, 2013, hosted by Executive Chef Mauro Taufer and Gaia Gaja, daughter of vintner Angelo Gaja. Gaja’s Vineyard Estate, founded in 1859, has been at the helm of Piemontese winegrowing for many years, and has gained many awards for its outstanding Barbaresco wines such as Sori Tildin and Costa Russi. Tickets are $610 US (CHF 560) per person, including apéritif, five-course menu, beverages and coffee.
Table des Connaisseurs events begin with the apéritif at 7:30 p.m., followed by dinner from 8 p.m. at Badrutt’s Palace Hotel. Needless to say, advance reservations are necessary (for information and reservations, call +41 (0) 81 837 2662 or email fb@badruttspalace.com).
