Crawfish Etouffée Cookoff
If you’ll be traveling in Cajun Country in late March, Road Trips Foodies, consider swinging by the annual world championship Crawfish Etouffée Cookoff.
Always held on the last Saturday in March (or, the third Sunday if Easter falls on the last Sunday!), this year’s date is March 24, 2013. It’ll be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Northwest Community Center Pavilion, 651 Samuel Drive, Eunice, Louisiana. It’s sponsored by the Euice Chamber of Commerce.
About 100 teams compete to see who can cook the best crawfish etouffée (“smothered” crawfish usually served with rice). Celebrity judges choose winners in three categories: Amateur, Professional and Club/Organization.
