Winter Festival of Wine
The 15th annual Sun Peaks Winter Festival of Wine returns to British Columbia, Canada, from January 12 through 20, 2013 (map).
The festival, as always, celebrates the vintages of the province’s Okanagan Valley.
If you want to attend the flagship event, the Progressive Wine Tasting, get your tickets ASAP (it usually sells out). There are, however, 20 events ranging from grand-scale bashes to small, intimate gatherings.
New this year, a Blend of Australia and Canada Wine Masters Dinner — combines the talents of Australian winemaker Darryl Brooker from Cedar Creek Estate Winery with Canadian executive chef Steve Buzak to match food, wine and quick wits in a four-course Australian-inspired dinner (think: wild game).
The revamped British Columbia Wine Awards Tasting will offer BC vintages combined with limited-availability wines and gourmet tapas, along with a special presentation from the Dairy Farmers of Canada.
Getting back to the roots of the festival, the Worshipping Icewines seminar will pour Icewines from the region.
