Southern Food and Beverage Museum
In June 2012, The Southern Food and Beverage Museum broke ground on a new 30,000-square-foot facility, which will include a restaurant, an exhibit for each of the 17 southern states*, a children’s gallery and a cultural innovation center.
This facility at 1504 Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard, New Orleans, Louisiana — along with the SoFAB Culinary Library — is scheduled to open in March 2013.
In the meantime, visit the museum at the Julia Street entrance to the Riverwalk Marketplace in New Orleans, Louisiana — where it opened in June 2008.
The Southern Food and Beverage Museum is a nonprofit living history organization dedicated to the discovery, understanding and celebration of the food, drink and the related culture of the South.
*On their website, your Road Trips Foodie found Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. One of the missing might be Delaware, but what’s number 17? Missouri, perhaps?
