Pies on Parade
During the ninth annual Pies on Parade in Rockland, Maine, it’s the noshers who do the parading, not the pies.
That’s probably because it takes place from 1 to 5 p.m. January 27, 2013, and things are a bit wintry in that part of New England that time of year. (Trolley and limo service at designated stops makes it more efficient to hit as many pie stops as possible.)
We’re not talking just dessert pies: each of the 45 participating venues will serve both a savory and sweet pie, including a number of unusual galettes, tarts, pot pies, pizza pies, even a grilled pie and quiches too.
It’s all sponsored by Historic Inns of Rockland and other local businesses and restaurants. Tickets for the tour are $25 for adults and $10 for children ten and under. Do note, Road Trips Foodies, tickets sell out quickly, are available from participating inns only (not additional participating Rockland businesses), and include some take-home recipes and plenty of pie to sample.
