Kettle-Cooking Goodness
It’s not really a foodie fest, but the Jay County Heritage Festival in Portland, Indiana, has two days of down-home goodness on offer October 6 and 7, 2012.
Kettle-cooked ham and beans with corn bread will be served all day on October 6. The next day, it’s kettle-cooked chicken and homemade noodles. Available on both days will be foot-long hotdogs, pork burgers, apple fritters, caramel corn, cotton candy, and ice cream sundae bar.
The 10th annual festival will be held at the Jay County Historical Museum, 903 East Main Street, Portland, Indiana (map).
Theme his year is “Jay Countians Go to War–Honoring Those Who Served Our Country, commemorating the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812, the 150th of the Civil War, the 60th of the Korean War, and the 50th anniversary of Viet Nam”. (Whew!)
There’s a complete schedule of events online.
