Cooking School in Chiang Mai
Surely the best place to learn Thai cuisine is in Thailand. One opportunity is the Cooking School at the Four Seasons Resort in Chiang Mai.
Designed by the Resort’s culinary team, the program offers guests a hands-on learning experience. Famous dishes such as kaow soi gai (Chiang Mai curry noodle soup with chicken) and tom yum goong (spicy soup with shrimp) are just two of the specialties that are introduced in the Cooking School’s weekly program.
Classes, taught Monday through Saturday, can accommodate eight participants. Not staying at the Four Seasons? Non-resort guests can attend, with advance reservation.
It all begins at 7 a.m. with a tour of a local food market. Back at the school, you’ll learn how to fix four different dishes, then take the time to savor them. The class finishes at 2:30 p.m. after a vegetable carving lesson.
Each day of the week has a different specialty. For example, on Mondays it’s dishes typical of Northern Thailand, and on Thursdays it’s fish and seafood.
