National Gingerbread House
The National Gingerbread House event is both a competition and a display, held in the Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa, 290 Macon Avenue, Asheville, North Carolina, November 16, 2011, through January 1, 2012.
Contestants from across the country will bring their culinary masterpieces for the judging. Strolling through the exhibition of these sugar-and-spice creations is a sure way to be swept up in the holiday spirit.
While resort guests may view the display at any time, “outsiders” can visit Sundays through Thursdays only, Road Trips Foodies, so plan your visit accordingly.
Guided tours with “Stories of Gingerbread” take visitors behind the scenes for details about the construction of the winning entries and the workings of the judging, competition and display itself. These hour-long tours are offered at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays staring November 18, 2011. Advance reservations are a must. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under.
