Croatia’s Asparagus Festival
Most Road Trips Foodies are familiar with cultivated asparagus, but how many of us have had a chance to sample the wild version?
That’s what’s featured during the annual Asparagus Festival held each April in Croatia. Although many restaurants and taverns will be offering meals featuring wild asparagus, the centerpiece of this year’s event, set for April 7 through 22, 2012, in Lovran is the gigantic omelet using 1000 eggs and 30 kilograms of wild asparagus (see photo, at left).
