Shedd Aquarium Does Seafood
October is National Seafood Month, so it’s logical that Chicago’s John G. Shedd Aquarium should take notice. In fact, Road Trips Foodies, it’s serving up a menu of sustainable seafood events.
On September 17, 2011, you can join a group visit to Rushing Waters Fisheries in Palmyra, Wisconsin, where you’ll explore the ins and outs of trout aquaculture and see what it takes to run a fish farm. By the end of our tour, you’ll have a taste of the industry — including a trout lunch.
On October 1, 2011, test your talent for sushi rolling with experts from Fortune Fish Seafood Company as you learn the steps to creating your own sushi and then feast on the results at the Shedd Aquarium, 1200 South Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, Illinois.
Learn how to purchase and prepare a whole fish sustainably with Shedd on October 18, 2011, at Dirk’s Fish & Gourmet Shop, 2070 North Clybourn Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. Pick up new recipes and enjoy the tasty results of the demonstration.
The trip to Wisconsin is $45 per person, the sushi class is $40 and the whole fish demo is $45 a person: registration and more information is online. Participants must be 21 years or older.
