Manchester Food and Drink Festival
Four special events are scheduled during the 14th Food and Drink Festival, to be held October 7 through 17, 2011, in Manchester, England. This is an urban festival, so there is no single location. Rather, the fest takes over as much of the city center surrounding districts of Greater Manchester as possible, with a huge program of events taking place, both indoor and outdoor. Check out all the options online.
First up for the “big four” is the Third Big Indie Wine Fest, set for October 7 and 8, 2011, in the People’s History Museum. It celebrates local and independent wine merchants in the region.
Next up: the Chocolate Festival, starting at noon on October 8, 2011, in Albert Square. It features a bean-to-bar chocolate factory, a rolling rounds of talks, displays and workshops, plus a chance to meet cocoa growers and sample tastes from a chocolate market.
The following day, October 9, 2011, a Kids Food Fest begins at 11 a.m. on Albert Square. This is a family food adventure with cookie making, kids cooking demos and cookery academy, milkshake demos and cupcake decorating masterclasses. In the “Bee-have Kids!” area, they can learn about bee keeping and how honey is made from Manchester and District Bee Keepers.
And fourth (but definitely not last), there’s the Manchester Whisky Festival, set for 11 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. October 15, 2011, in the Lowry Hotel. Two sessions are planned, with more brands, distilleries and importers in attendance than ever before and some masterclasses on offer too.
