World’s Championship Chili Cookoff
Road Trips Foodies who are chili aficionados should definitely have these dates on their travel calendars. Chiliheads will be gathering at the 2011 World’s Championship Chili Cookoff September 30 through October 2, 2011. This year, it’s held in Veterans Park, Manchester, New Hampshire.
It’s the signature event of the International Chili Society, the organization that sanctions District, Regional and State Cookoffs. Cooks who win at least two District, one Regional or one State Cookoff qualify for the World’s Championship Chili Cookoff that takes place in October. The WCCC has three categories: Traditional Red Chili, Chili Verde and Salsa.
A note for the purists: it is important to know that competition chili cooked up at ICS events does not allow beans.
