Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival
No, Road Trips Foodies, it doesn’t matter which came first. Both the chicken and the egg are celebrated April 9 and 10, 2011, at the Lion’s Club Fairgrounds, 455 School Street, Moulton, Alabama.
The Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival is a two-day outdoor festival featuring chicken entrées prepared in a variety of ways, of course, but also a chicken clucking contest and an egg toss plus eating contests for fans of chicken wings and boiled eggs!. Sure, there’s entertainment by regional bands and local favorites and a “Down on the Farm” area featuring Southern Folklife Artists, a bluegrass music stage, agriculture exhibits, farming equipment, antique tractors and cows,
Attendees also have the opportunity to see some 100 actual chickens representing 25 different varieties and a bantam chicken display.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. April 9 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 10. Admission is $3 per person (and free for 5 years old and under).
