Victoria Tea Festival
Victoria knows a thing or two about tea: for two, in the afternoon, and even with a glass of bubbly. No, not THAT Victoria, Road Trips Foodies. We’re talking about the capital of British Columbia. This Victoria, dubbed Canada’s tea capital, is considered by many to be at the forefront of cuppa culture.
In any case, it’s getting ready to host the Victoria Tea Festival, the largest public tea exhibition in North America, on February 12 and 13, 2011. Poised to pour steaming varietals from around the globe in the Crystal Garden, 713 Douglas Street, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, this Island festival taps into emerging tea trends, while still holding true to customs steeped in tradition.
A highlight? Participants balance their sips with tasty treats, paired by local restaurateurs, bakers and chocolatiers. Also on the roster: insights into a Japanese Tea Ceremony, Cooking with Tea, Naturopathic Medicine & Tea, and The Art of Selecting Tea Ware. And for something new, Spinnakers Gastro Brewpub, Canada’s oldest brewpub, will showcase Silk Road Tea Company-infused tea ales for those interested in a non-traditional tipple.
If you’re wandering the Pacific Northwest, be sure to stop by for a sip at the Fifth Annual Victoria Tea Festival on Vancouver Island, and snag all-things-tea for home. The only question left: black, green, white or herbal?
