The Niagara Icewine Festival kicks off on January 14, 2011, with three weeks of celebration ending January 30, 2011, in Ontario, Canada.

From gala evening toasts to chestnut roasts, ornate ice bars and winery tours, the 16th annual Icewine Festival offers plenty for every taste.

First up is the “Red Hot and Ice Gala”, a formal event from 8 to 11 p.m. January 14, 2011, in the Fallsview Casino Resort. This evening of Niagara cuisine features more than 30 of Ontario’s premier VQA wines and Icewines.

The next evening offers more sampling at “Winterfest” in Market Square, St. Catharines, Ontario.

Throughout three weekends in January, visitors can travel the wine route. With an Icewine Festival Discovery Pass ($30), you’ll get a “passport” to six wineries offering samplings and snacks on January 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30, 2011.
