Elephant Pepper Camp
Nope. You get to sample neither elephants nor peppers at Elephant Pepper Camp in the Koiyaki Wilderness of Kenya. Well, maybe there’s a pepper or two on the menu. But you definitely get to enjoy a special locavore delight on safari here.
The camp recently built a beehive to collect its very own Mara honey. The new beehive yielded close to one gallon of fresh honey on opening day. So, here you’ve got an insect native to this part of Kenya locally producing deliciousness from native flowers. Yum!
Elephant Pepper Camp has eight tents for guests, all with en-suite bathrooms (and take it from your Road Trips Foodie, who’s been to Kenya on safari twice now, it’s incredibly comforting to find a standard, Western-stye, flush toilet in the partitioned bathroom of a safari tent out in the remote Kenyan bush).
