Grand Rapids International Wine & Food Festival
There’s a unique twist to the International Wine & Food Festival set for November 19-20, 2010, in the Steelcase Ballroom at DeVos Place Convention Center, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
All five of the town’s Sister Cities will be featured in the center piazza at the third annual event, Road Trips Foodies. Some of the products being sampled by Grand Rapids Sister Cities International include Jose Cuervo Platino Reserva, Don Julio Blanco, Pravda Vodka and Shichi Hon Yari Sake.
Chef Akihiro Kotani, the Master Chef at Hotel New Omi in Omihachiman, Japan, will be at the festival along with the president of the hotel. A sake seminar also is planned. Sarah Goretti of Goretti Vineyards will be at the Festival all three days with wine for tasting. The Goretti vineyards are located in the heart of the Umbria region of Italy near the town of Perugia.
The purpose of the sister city program is to build relationships between Grand Rapids and its sister cities by promoting understanding and mutual respect through exchanges in culture, art, education, and community and economic development. Grand Rapids Sister Cities are Omihachiman, Japan; Bielsko-Biala, Poland; Perugia, Italy; Ga District, Ghana and Zapopan, Mexico.
