Fall Haul in Indiana

Submitted by on October 20, 2010 – 5:19 pmNo Comment

From wine sauces to wine tapas to wine cake — wine is the meal during the Faul Haul November 6 and 7, 2010, sponsored by the Indiana Wine Trail.

Wineries in the southeastern quadrant of the Hoosier state will showcase a variety of foods created using wines. In addition to the food, each of the six wineries will provide recipes for the food and special discounts. The wine and food tastings will be free; if you want a larger portion, it’ll be available for purchase.

Thomas Family Winery in Madison is featuring a cellar release of special “reds” along with treats made with Gale’s Hand Cider Cheddar Cheese. At Madison’s Lanthier Winery, you’ll sample Cranberry Grande Lots-a-Ways Holiday. Madison Vineyards is serving up a variety of hot and cold tapas featuring wine as one of the ingredients.

A short drive takes you to Commisky where Stream Cliff Farm & Winery will get you in the party mood with cheeseballs and dips made with wine along with a hot wine punch.

As you wind your way through the countryside to Ertel Cellars just outside of Batesville, anticipate tasting great food by Chef Ed and winemaker Brian Ahaus.

Back along the Ohio River Scenic Byway, right on the river in Switzerland County, Ridge Winery will satisfy your sweet tooth with blackberry wine cobbler along with white chili (with a hint of wine, of course) and meatballs in wine sauce.
