BUStaurant Roams Los Angeles

Submitted by on September 8, 2010 – 12:54 pmNo Comment

You’ve seen food trucks, Road Trips Foodies, but have you seen a restaurant that’s a bus? Not content with the usual roaming eateries, Travis Schmidt and Jason Freeman bought a double-decker bus and launched what’s undoubtedly America’s first BUStaurant!

With a restaurant kitchen on the bottom level and rooftop dining on the open air deck, World Fare wanders the streets of Los Angeles (and environs) serving a variety of dishes from gourmet Blackboard specials (culinary creations made from local and seasonal ingredients) to desserts and “street drinks” served in a bag.

Andi Van Willigan is World Fare’s executive chef. After sharpening her knives with some of the best in the business, Chef Andi joined the World Fare team to bring her passion for food to the streets of LA. Chef Andi believes that amazing food should be accessible, and, so, the bustaurant menu was created. Her extensive travels around the world provide inspiration.

The BusTaurant staple is the Bunny Chows (pictured at right). Originally a South African street worker food, it’s a hollowed out loaf of bread filled with chicken curry.
