‘Learn Great Foods’ Culinary Tours

It’s hard for a tourist to tap into the local food scene of a new destination. If you’re wandering the Midwest, Road Trips Foodies, here’s a resource you might want to check out: Culinary Food Tours. This outfit schedules both individuals and groups on food-centric jaunts in Michigan (Leelanau/Petoskey), Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri and Kentucky.

There are Farmers Market Tours to the Edgebrook Market in Rockford, Illinois, and in Fairfield and Dubuque, Iowa. City Food Tours are possible in both Galena, Illinois, and Traverse City, Michigan. There are organic culinary weekend retreats throughout the region, too. (What about “All Things Chocolate” August 20-22, 2010, in Mount Carroll, Illinois, or Maple Madness March 4-6, 2011, in Petoskey, Michigan?)
