Poultry Capital of the World

chickenWhere else, Road Trips Foodies, should you visit a Spring Chicken Festival than in the Poultry Capital of the World! Where’s that? Why, Gainesville, Georgia, of course! And the Official Chicken Cookoff for the State of Georgia — by official resolution of the state legislature — takes place there from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 24, 2010. The street in front of the monument is Jesse Jewell Parkway, named after the local man who revolutionized the poultry industry by using assembly line techniques (nope: nothing’s wasted).
